I exist due to a need to escape from traumatic events, I formed from a coping mechanism (as well as Ink). there was never any intention from Rusty for me to be anything other than a character. (edited)

I find it ridiculous that people still use ‘intentionally created’ as a way to define tulpas when there are countless people saying they have accidental tulpas. It isn’t exactly rare. And I’m not talking walk-ins (edited)

I tried imagining a conversation with my parents in my head and it feels really really talking to my tulpa. (eg. they sound different from me, I don't get to plan their responses). Does that mean I am parroting all along? Also, after the questioning, my tulpa seemed to talk less.

People imagine scenarios in their head, and it's fairly natural for them. This doesn't mean your deliberate efforts in tulpamancy are the same, though.

You deliberately assign your tulpa an identity, and work with them to develop, that's much different from a one-off daydreampt scenario.

Plus, the reason your tulpa went quiet is probably because you're doubting them. Doubt's a bitch in stalling progress, and will likely make it harder to connect to and communicate with your tulpa. Try not to doubt the process.

Like Bennett said, as long as you are assigning the assumption your tulpa is not you, you're doing it right. You can have other thoughtforms that seem sentient because they're using your sentience. The purpose of tulpamancy is to create a tulpa by convincing yourself they exist. Doubt is a normal response and I believe trust should be earned not expected. When you get a response from your tulpa, given what little they know about the world it's okay if they think like you. If you're not sure of your tulpa's response, consider if their response makes sense given the conversation context or question you asked them. Additionally, consider that a tulpa may not have opinions yet and it's better to show them things instead of (unsuccessfully) get an answer to an opinion they don't have. A tulpa will become more distinct as an individual as they build up their experiences, beliefs, and opinions (edited)

For us, it's like, we imagine being the other person! We also switch places in the wonderland. Sometimes, it happens when we don't mean to though :0 That happens when we have a certain trigger. It mainly happens with kei switching with momo, like when momo thinks kei is being threatened.

It depends on the system. At first it feels like your role-playing your tulpa until you realize their are certain characteristics (i.e posture voice etc) that happen naturally.

I personally never learned possession and went right to switching I learned switching after about a month i think? It was easy for me But it was after my tulpa was fully vocal and we had full trust between him and me (edited)

You don't "need" to learn anything, it's all optional.

There's no timeframe or deadline, it's up to you and your abilities and desire to learn it.

But when and if you should learn it, is up to you. Learn it if and when you really want it. You can try now. You can just abstain from it. Learning it does not make your tulpa more or less valid if you're concerned about that.
